Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I so anxious about politics right now?

Your brain’s main job is to keep you safe. You are likely taking in a constant stream of alarming information and your brain hears it as a personal, immediate threat. When the news feels nonstop and unpredictable, your thoughts stay stuck in high alert—replaying worst-case scenarios and scanning for danger. There’s nothing wrong with you. Your brain is just doing what brains do on default. Your system is overloaded. Coaching moves you out of unconscious fight or flight thinking to conscious thinking.

Is it normal to feel overwhelmed by the news?

Yes. Many thoughtful, high-achieving people feel overwhelmed by politics because they care deeply and want to stay informed. The problem isn’t caring—it’s living in a constant mental loop that never shuts off. Staying informed shouldn’t mean feeling anxious, irritable, or exhausted all the time.

I don’t want to disengage from politics. Can this still help me?

Absolutely. This work is not about checking out, numbing yourself, or pretending things aren’t happening. It’s about calming your mind so you can stay engaged without burning out. You can care deeply and feel steady.

How is this different from therapy?

This work focuses on how your thinking patterns are keeping you stuck in mental overdrive—and how to step out of that spiral in real time. It’s practical, present-focused, and designed to help you feel calmer and more effective in daily life, especially during political uncertainty.

What if the political situation really is bad?

You’re not wrong to be concerned. This work doesn’t ask you to deny reality. It helps you stop fighting reality in ways that exhaust you and keep you stuck. You’ll learn how to feel steady and grounded even when the world feels unstable—so your life doesn’t shrink while you just wait for things to improve.

Will this help with doomscrolling and overthinking?

Yes. Many clients come in feeling unable to stop watching the news, replaying headlines, or imagining what might happen next. This work helps quiet those mental loops so you can focus, rest, and choose when and how you engage—rather than feeling pulled by every update.

What changes after working together?

Clients often report:

  • Fewer mental spirals about politics

  • More patience with their loved ones

  • Better focus at work

  • Less reliance on numbing habits

  • A calmer, steadier mind

  • The ability to take meaningful action without emotional exhaustion

Do I need to change my beliefs or values?

No. Your values don’t need fixing. This work helps you stop letting political chaos run your inner world—so you can live, think, and act in alignment with what matters to you. This frees up so much energy to do things that help vs endless mental spirals.

Is this coaching right for me?

This work is a good fit if you:

  • Feel mentally consumed by politics or the news

  • Are tired of feeling worried, irritable, or on edge

  • Want to calm your mind without disengaging

  • Are ready to feel steady even when things are uncertain

If that’s you, you’re in the right place.

What do coaching sessions look like?

No need to prepare for our sessions, that's my job. If something comes up between sessions that you want to bring up, just make a note of it.

Each session will begin with me teaching elements of the self coaching framework, and include time for you to be coached on whatever challenges you're experiencing. Don’t worry about coming up with topics/situations to be coached on, if you’re talking we’ll almost surely come upon thought patterns that we can work with. Human brains are fun that way. You'll quickly see the power of this new insight and be able to experience the associated benefits.

You don’t need the world to calm down for your mind to calm down
